A VERY HEALTHY THANKSGIVING TO YOU

Thanksgiving is one of my favorite holidays. Not only do we get to really focus on being grateful for everything in our lives but we also get the chance to focus on food. Every year I try to incorporate a few healthy habits into my day so that I’ve accomplished more than just eating!

#1 – DO SOMETHING ACTIVE

Thanksgiving is my favorite day to schedule a special gym class, sign-up for a race or find a family member that wants to do something active with you! Not only does it feel amazing before you start the appetizers but its something to look forward to that is HEALTHY for the day!

#2 –EAT BREAKFAST!

Are you one of those people that likes to wait to eat anything until the celebration? Unfortunately, this habit causes over-eating of unhealthy foods and leaves you feeling uncomfortably full. Eat a healthy breakfast early in the day to avoid this. Breakfast is a great chance to incorporate fiber, fruits and dairy into your day and you will be ready to eat by the time the Thanksgiving meal is ready.

#3 -BRING A DISH

Get involved in the meal and make a healthy dish to bring. This gives others a chance to see how delicious healthy recipes can be and ensures you have a healthy option with ingredients you picked!

#4 -GO FOR A AFTER MEAL WALK

Instead of sitting around, gab a family member and take a walk around the block. This will help you digest and keep you moving throughout the day.

#5 – BE WISE WITH DESSERTS

Choose desserts that are lower in sugar like fruit salad. If you need to take a bite of your favorite cake- go for it, in moderation of coarse.

#6 – ENJOY YOUR THANKSGIVING

Relax and let yourself enjoy your thanksgiving. We have a lot to be grateful for, just take a look around!!
